If you are looking for a heavy album to blare at high volumes, I Alice: Severance by Catherine Corelli fits the bill. The album is comprised of ten tracks of metalcore with a bonus version of two of the tracks. My first impression knocked me over with the album’s shear amount of heaviness.

“Codependent”, the opening track, sets listeners up for a crazy ride that keeps one guessing the whole time. “Hell Yes!” continues the metalcore mayhem brought forth in the previous track. “Mad-Mad-Mademoiselle” is a killer track in general, but the instrumentation is where this track shines. The brutality continues on the next track, “Your Loving Pariah”, with the same talented instrumental backing. “My Mighty Nighty Knight” has a great electronic intro that builds into a heavy song. “24 Months Later” has a murderous blast-beat that thunders away behind the rest of the elements. “Severance” starts out with a melancholy piano track with some electronic elements and progresses into a heavy piece of musical art. “Snow Leopard” continues the trend of Cat’s special blend of metalcore with an expertly placed saxophone solo which I find to be awesome. “Beautiful” is lives up to its name. Excluding the bonus versions of “Mad-Mad-Mademoiselle” and “Hell Yes!”, “Kiss” is the closer. “Kiss” pulls the tone down a bit and has mostly clean vocals. “Kiss” is my favorite track on the album.

Overall Catherine Corelli’s “I Alice: Severance is a great album She composed, recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire thing herself. And, for that, I commend her. Killer job Cat! I recommend you give this album a listen. Get it at www.catcorelli.com!
