My first impression of Energy by Vufcup put me at a loss for words. I am well

versed in Vufcup’s music including older, unreleased stuff; however, there were

plenty of surprises for me along the fifteen track journey.

“New Vows” sets the album off with its first murder and is one of my favorite tracks on the album. “Richard Killed Cameron” has an appropriate title for its lyrical content and brings us murder number two. “Home” is super-fast song dripping with old school punk charm. “Who Chewed The Pen Cap?” is an interesting love story that I thoroughly enjoyed. “Don’t Cut, Baby” possesses a catchy chorus full of harmonies and is just a fun song. The opening guitar tone in “These Games” was enough to get my attention and is a good track. “Lil’ Miss Wolf Paws” continues the horror vibe with its ode-to-werewolf track that is so cool. “A Girl Named Tic Toc” is another super-fast song with a fun vibe and plenty of that old school punk charm I mentioned earlier. “Good Kids Don’t Throw Things” is a great track with an important message for children. “Zombie Beauty Queens” has an intriguing title and is equally intriguing in terms of musicality and lyrics. “Big Bug Smile” is a killer track with a metal vibe and is another one of my favorites. The chorus harmony gave me chills and breakdown at around 3:16 is excellent. “Impressive Oppressor” is my favorite track by a thin margin. I really dig the rhythm and the overall vibe knocks it out of the park for me. “Separation Tango” is a fun song that makes me want to move. “Mortician” picks up the horror vibe from earlier and runs with it; the organ in this track moves the creep factor up a few notches and the maniacal laughter throughout adds some more to the macabre flavor. The closing track, “Clare Blues”, is the longest track on the album and is definitely a great choice for closing the album.

Overall, Energy is a great album that I highly recommend you check out. It is available exclusively on Bandcamp. Be sure to grab it and all their other music and like them on Facebook.
